Smart Air Purifier 4: Xiaomi timidly renews its range of air purifiers

The range of Xiaomi air purifiers is being renewed very timidly, with a fourth generation that takes up the main features of the Mi Air Purifier 3H. The latter having been a hit in the tests, we can only hope for the Smart Air Purifier 4 series as well.

Indeed, there are several similar characteristics between the two versions. Thanks to their 360° air intake and a three-layer filtration system, Xiaomi promises to eliminate “99.97% of suspended particles”; although we prefer the term “capture”. The pre-filter takes care of hair and animal hair in particular. Next, a multi-layered filter “high efficiency”, still according to the manufacturer, would be able to trap fine particles measuring up to 0.1 micrometer. Pollen, animal dander, dust and even smoke would then be captured. Because yes, the filter is partly composed of activated carbon, which is particularly effective against bad odors.

Regarding the Smart Air Purifier 4 range, the filter, with less dense fibers than a conventional HEPA filter, would be able to circulate the air better; the device would thus be quieter and more energy efficient.

As with the previous reference, the Smart Air Purifier 4 connects to the Mi Home application. Several pieces of information are then available, such as the state of the filters and the level of ambient pollution. The user can also choose to launch a purification cycle remotely, via his smartphone. The devices are also compatible with Alexa and Google voice assistants.

The screen also provides information and includes a light bar quickly indicating the PM 2.5 level (lighting up from green to red). The Smart Air Purifier, in its 4 Lite version, has an LED screen displaying the PM 2.5 rate in real time, the humidity rate, as well as the ambient temperature. Versions 4 and 4 Pro are equipped with an OLED screen offering a better display.

The models in the range are differentiated by the number of modes available. They all offer night, auto and favorite modes. The first turns off the screen and reduces the sound level to 32.1 dB(A). Set to the second mode, the device alone determines its power to best purify the room. Finally, the last obeys the settings chosen by the user.

For their part, the 4 and 4 Pro models offer a more precise choice of the action power of the air purifiers on three levels (low, medium and high).

But above all, the three references do not have the same field of action. The 4 Lite can supply 6000 liters of purified air per minute and sanitize a room of 43 m². The 4 provides up to 6600 liters of purified air per minute and can therefore sanitize a room of 48 m². Finally, the 4 Pro would perform well in a room up to 60m² and could provide 8330 liters of purified air.
