Smartphone sales collapsed: only two manufacturers benefit

Global smartphone sales fell again

In the third quarter of the year fewer mobile phones than before were sold for the third time in a row. Year-on-year, sales fell 9 percent. According to the new figures, which relate to global sales, it was the worst third quarter for manufacturers since 2014. However, not all smartphone manufacturers are equally affected by the slump.

Smartphone customers are waiting for offers

According to Canalys’ analysis, customers who have previously delayed a purchase expect from manufacturers high price reductions in the Christmas business with current cell phones. Manufacturers should also consider “significant price reductions” for older models. A “slow but steady” sell-off is expected for the fourth quarter of the year.
