Smash Ultimate: Who will be the best French and European player?

1024 players from around the world will face off in Lyon this weekendwith the aim of winning the Colossel, the biggest European tournament in the history of Ultimate. The event will start on Saturday at 10 a.m., and will be broadcast on the solary chain. Of course, the best French players will participate, but players from other nations have made the trip. The top European players will be therein order to challenge the hegemony of Glutonny, the best European player since the game was released. But the Europeans will not only explain themselves to each other, because players from the Middle East, the United States and of course Mexico will come to remind everyone who the bosses are (spoiler: there is a non-negligible probability that it is a former Spanish colony, located in the south of the USA).

The arc of the best French player, even European

You don’t need to have followed the Smash scene to know Gluttonny. The Solary player has dominated France and Europe since the game was released, and if his reign has sometimes been threatened, no one has yet succeeded in taking his throne. Ranked sixth in OrionRank (the world ranking of Ultimate players), only players from other continents exceed it. Only for some time, competition is increasingly fierce in France. The first name that comes to mind is of course Raflow (28th player in the world). The BMS player has managed to defeat Gluttonny several times in tournaments this season, and is considered one of the rising stars of the Smash scene. Just last week, Raflow knocked Gluttonny out of a tournament after an epic match. If today he is not yet sure that he is the best French player, the question of who is stronger between him and Gluto is legitimate. If he still managed to eliminate him, then the ranking of Fr top players would be upset. The situation would be more complicated if one of the two players is eliminated by another of the monsters of the tournament, before they could cross.

However, other French players should not be underestimated, like Leon (60th) or Oryon (57th), which can cause surprise. These players may be less visible than the two monsters Glutonny and Raflow, but burying them before the start of the tournament would be a huge mistake. The competition will not only be French-speakingbecause Glutonny does not only dominate France. European players like Sisqui (17th), Quik (26th), Bloom4eva (50th) and Tarik (55th) will also be present at this tournamentwith the firm intention of proving that the other nations of the Old Continent have nothing to be ashamed of in the face of the French.

However, the competition will not stop at the European continent. Of the players from the USA (LeoN, Mr. E) will also be present, as well as saudi arabia players, Emass in the lead. Those who follow the other fighting game scenes know that this nation is on the rise, including Latif, one of the best Guilty Gear Strive players in the world. However, all eyes will be on the Mexican playersincluding MkLeo (world No. 1), Maister (14th, who sent Gluttonny and Raflow to the Loser Bracket last week before losing to MkLeo and Raflow in the Loser), as well as Chag (19th).

The team tournament arc

Rather than organizing a double tournament, the Colossel has chosen to hold an international team tournament. 17 countries will be represented (we counted Benelux as two countries: Belgium + Luxembourg, the Netherlands already having another team) by 16 different teams. Although the majority of nations will be European, there will also be representatives from the USA, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. Almost every nation with a great Smash Ultimate* player will be there, except for Japan, Canada, Dominican Republic, Australia and Finland.

The France team will be made up of Glutonny, Raflow and Leon. This team tournament will take place Saturday, from 6 p.m. The 1v1 tournament will continue on Sunday July 3 from 10 a.m. with the top 128. The start of the top 8 is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on the same day.

*(nation with at least one representative in the top 200 Smash Ultimate players)

With Nintendo’s ultimate patch, the competitive Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is faced with a size problem. One or even two characters turn out to be very powerful, perhaps too much for the good of the game and the scene. There are big debates about them. Overview.
