SME employees, you could be entitled to a nice bonus in the fall of 2024

Employees of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may have reason to rejoice. They could receive a bonus in the fall of 2024. Explanations.

This Monday, June 26, a bill was debated in the National Assembly. If this law is adopted, it could make thousands of French employees happy or at least increase their purchasing power. In effect, a value-sharing bill, resulting from an agreement of the ANI (national interprofessional agreement) between employers’ organizations and trade unions, wishes award bonuses to SME employees.

More specifically, employees of SMEs with 11 to 49 employees could review participation or profit-sharing from their employer. On condition that companies have been making profits for at least three consecutive years. If the law is passed, this employee bonus would become mandatory. And the first bonuses could therefore be awarded from fall 2024. According to information from Parisianthe Ministry of Labor considers that these premiums concern 1.5 million employees. Indeed, Louis Margueritte, Renaissance deputy, indicates that 65,000 companies in France have made at least three years of profit.

SME employees: how much for these mandatory premiums?

The question that arises is therefore: what will be the amount of these compulsory premiums? Currently, the bonuses paid to employees of SMEs are on average 618 euros for a company with 10 to 19 employees. The amount changes to 545 euros on average for SMEs of 20 to 49 employees. And participation is on average €1,944 against €2,221 for interest.

As a result, the Ministry of Labor carried out models, concluding that a company with 30 employees could pay €1,386 of participation to an employee earning 1750 euros net per month. And an SME with 12 employees could then pay an incentive of 967 euros on average, for an employee earning 2,000 euros net per month. For an SME with 43 employees, the value-sharing bonus would therefore amount to 567 euros if the employee earns 2,200 euros per month.

“The qualification of exceptional profits will have to give rise to an internal discussion between the management and the unions. An amendment currently being drafted should allow to define more precisely on what criteria and bases the discussions must take place”, analyzes MP Louis Margueritte.
