The pensioner first heated up the wood stove in her house in the Graz area and then went outside to get more firewood. She wouldn’t have been gone for 20 minutes – but the catastrophe had already happened. Dense clouds of noise were already coming from the house. Granddaughter alerted the fire department. The 86-year-old’s granddaughter, who lives right next door, immediately alerted the fire department, and several teams from neighboring communities had to move out because the house was completely on fire. “Fire out” was reported around 4 p.m.; But the work for the fire brigade lasted until late at night. The 86-year-old was taken to the LKH Graz with suspected smoke poisoning.
