Xavier Naidoo’s apology is ‘just a start’

Fanta-Vier-Star Smudo thinks Xavier Naidoo’s apology is a “good thing”. At the same time, “it could only be a start”.
For years, Xavier Naidoo (50) made headlines because of the spread of conspiracy theories. After the singer recently took a position in a more detailed video and apologized for the “disturbing statements”, the first music colleagues spoke up about Naidoo’s surprising change of heart. “It’s a good thing for Xavier to apologize publicly and to clearly distance himself from right-wing ideas,” says Smudo (54) in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper.
The star of the Fantastischen Vier also emphasizes: “But that can only be a start. I would like Xavier to be able to save many more stubborn right-wing and lateral thinkers with enlightenment.” In his view, it would be helpful to educate the whole country about “how it can happen to sink into conspiracy, fascism and QAnon nonsense”.
Naidoo’s public apology
Xavier Naidoo had recently spread conspiracy theories, for example about the corona pandemic. In a three-minute video April 19, the singer apologized publicly for the first time. He “recognized the wrong paths I had taken in some cases and that I had made many mistakes in recent years”.
