Who would have thought, after years of beef, Snoop Dogg and Eminem are back together again. Her new music video for the single From the D2 to the LBC comes in the style of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) – despite turbulent crypto market conditions and racism allegations against the NFT project.

On June 24th, Snoop Dogg and Eminem released the music video for their new track “From The D 2 The LBC“, in which the Bored Ape Yacht Club plays an important role. Snoop Dogg’s Bored Ape #6723 and Eminem’s Bored Ape #9055 feature more often than the rappers themselves in the animated video. Directed by James Larese.
The video also appears as a promotional and image film for the NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club to serve. Because the image of the brand is currently in crisis after the accusations of racism against the founders became louder. The allegations have existed for several months. But through one one-hour investigative documentary on the subject by YouTuber Philion and Ryder Ripps, the topic really took off.
The hash tag #burnbayc went viral. In the course of this, some celebrities had deleted their Bored Ape profile pictures on Twitter to distance themselves from the company around the colorful monkey jpegs. For example, Jimmy Fallon, Shonda Rhimes, Travis Barker and Meek Mill are among the celebrities who have already given up their NFT avatars.
But Eminem and Snoop are apparently staying true to their avatars. When asked why the Bored Ape look was chosen for the music video, BTC-ECHO did not get an answer from director James Larese.
Live performance at ApeFest
Both artists are known for their commitment to the BAYC. From June 20th to 23rd, the ApeFest 2022 took place in New York City. Here both artists appeared together to perform their new song.
The event is exclusively open to NFT owners, keeping the audience a far cry from a loud and authentic hip-hop crowd. Nevertheless, numerous crypto enthusiasts filmed the spectacle.
Eminem hints at new album ‘Curtain Call 2’
In terms of rap, the duo comes along lyrically on an old-school beat. Despite the modern make-up of the video, the song is more reminiscent of hip-hop that was released around the turn of the millennium.
There is a small hint hidden in the video itself. It says on a high score board of an animated pinball machine curtain call 2. Fans suspect that Eminem could be currently working on a new album with that name. Curtain Call: The Hits is Em’s 8x platinum compilation album from 2005. To date, it is the longest-charting hip-hop album.
Back then, Eminem was considered the voice of angry, misunderstood youth. But in recent years, many fans have turned their backs on the hip-hop icon as Eminem has taken his musical tracks and content more and more mainstream. Perhaps fans can now look forward to an album in the style of the legendary curtain calls albums.
