So far 19 infected – corona cluster after tent festival in Upper Austria

19 tested positive. This is the intermediate infection status after a tent festival in Pettenbach, Upper Austria, at the end of July.

The event in Pettenbach is the first major case cluster in Upper Austria this summer after a tent festival, the state’s crisis team said on Saturday evening. The second case cluster of this kind in Upper Austria was the “Hugo-Mania” tent festival in Eberstalzell (Wels-Land district) two days ago. However, as of Saturday, the number of people currently infected in this case was only two people.

Tent festivals have recently been the subject of heated discussions, as only the 3-G rule applies there, while in night-time catering only people who have been tested or vaccinated have been admitted since July 22nd. The Association of Austrian Night Gastronomy has therefore also announced that it will submit an individual application to the Constitutional Court (VfGH). Furthermore, due to the looser rules for tent festivals, there could also be lawsuits at higher regional courts in individual federal states because of the “endangerment to the general public”, said association spokesman Stefan Ratzenberger at the end of July.
