PARIS (Reuters) – Socit Gnrale and Crdit Mutuel Arka are the only two candidates to take over ING’s retail banking activities in France, the La Tribune website reported on Tuesday.
The Dutch bank announced on December 21 its willingness to withdraw from retail banking in France and then reported discussions with “third parties” regarding its portfolio of customers, without further details.
“(…) only two candidates have submitted a takeover offer, namely Socit Gnrale on behalf of its subsidiary Boursorama, and Crdit Mutuel Arka for its subsidiary Fortuneo”, writes La Tribune, without citing any sources. “In the end, Crdit Mutuel Alliance Fdrale (Monabanq) threw in the towel after looking at the file, as did Crdit Agricole (Bforbank) before it.”
Contact via Reuters, Socit Gnrale did not wish to comment. Crdit Mutuel Arka was not immediately available for comment.
