“The old way of thinking is over,” announced Andreas Gapp, chairman of the Cable Cars specialist group, in the run-up to the 54th Cable Car Conference. Sustainability is the new buzzword. A corresponding report has already been prepared. The conclusion is consistently positive. “As far as economic sustainability is concerned, attempts are being made to buy a lot from local producers – from the cable car manufacturers as well as from the local farmers,” explained Michael Tagwerker, Managing Director of the specialist group. On average, cable car operators purchase products and services worth around 40 million euros a year. Cable car users spend around one billion euros in the region each winter.
