Socks and sandals: not just for old men

Fashion-conscious men and women have shown courage to be ugly again this year when they decided to use the combination of sock and sandal to help make a comeback.

This fashion faux pas probably reminds many of us of the cliché of the German tourist (with mostly gruesome fashion taste) or the old biology teacher (also often with gruesome fashion taste). Now it becomes like thanks to fashion-conscious men Justin Bieber, David Beckham or US rapper Kayne West again socially acceptable. You don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Viewed objectively, one of the few advantages of this look is its easy implementation and general flexibility. All you need is a pair of socks and sandals, and you catapult yourself (at least in theory) to a level with fashion icons from all over the world.

Unfortunately, socks are not the same socks and sandals are not the same. For a successful Socks'n Sandals look, you need a lot of self-confidence and of course the finest of the finest from the world of footwear. Simply combining old Birkenstocks with Adidas sports socks will unfortunately not be enough to attract envious looks.

Lace socks, transparent fabrics, glitter and statement socks are extremely popular, especially paired with strappy sandals, peep-toes or platform sandals.

However, if you are afraid of sweaty feet and unaesthetic tan stripes, you should probably stay with the Crocs. Worn with enough conviction, they give you a similarly fashionable flair when in doubt.
