Sofia Vergara: Her 31-year-old son Manolo is so successful

Sofia Vergara has achieved everything she ever dreamed of: After an already promising modeling career, she is now one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood. But her greatest success is and remains her son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara.

Sofia Vergara and her husband Joe Manganiello, 45, are considered a true Hollywood dream couple. But before the 50-year-old found happiness with the “Magic Mike” actor, she was married before. The marriage didn’t last long, but it gave the actress her greatest gift: son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, 31. He not only looks very similar to his mother, but also shares some of her passions.

Sofia Vergara became a mother when she was 19

Sofia Vergara grew up in Barranquilla, Colombia and fell in love with Joe Gonzalez while at school. When the now actress was just of legal age, she married her high school sweetheart in 1991. In the same year their son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara saw the light of day. After the young marriage broke up in 1993, Sofia, who had already appeared in commercials at the time, emigrated to the USA with her young son. In Miami she wanted to start her career again, to give her Manolo the best possible life.

“I was a single mom from a very early age. What made me wake up every day, what made me take responsibility, was the motivation I needed to make money and give my son all the things I thought of that he needs her,” she once told Coveteur. Her plan worked: after several small roles, she finally made her breakthrough in 2002. And Manolo is no stranger to Hollywood either.

Manolo follows in Mama Sofia’s footsteps

Back in 2010, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara worked on the set of the hit series “Modern Family”, in which Sofia played one of the main roles. His fascination with the industry continued, and in 2015 he received his degree in film production from Emerson College in Boston. Sofia was bursting with pride at his graduation, which was attended by Joe Manganiello and her ex-partner, Joe Gozalez, who she is still close friends with.

In the same year, the then 24-year-old made his acting debut alongside his mother and Reese Witherspoon, 46, in the comedy “Miss Bodyguard”. This was followed by other appearances in various films, as well as two seasons of the series “Guilty Party”. He has also directed several short films. There’s no question Manolo’s talent and love for the film industry is very strong. But in the meantime he has built up a second mainstay.

Manolo Gonzalez Vergara takes off as an entrepreneur

Sofia Vergara is known to be a huge Chihuahua fan. She obviously passed on her love of animals to her son: Manolo not only owns a small four-legged friend named Baguette, who is his everything, in 2020 he even founded a luxury brand for dogs. CANINI by Baguette sells clothing, beds and accessories for man’s best friend.

Mother and son looked radiant at the launch party in Las Vegas. They posed for the cameras with a laugh along with Baguette and Sofia’s Chihuahua Bubble. Following the launch, Manolo continued partying with Sofia and his stepfather at an after-party at On The Record Club, according to the Daily Mail. A successful evening, which once again showed the strong bond between mother and son.

The mother-son team has a special connection

But it’s not just the adorable red carpet performances or the countless mother-son snaps on their Instagram channels that prove what a strong bond they have. Due to their shared passions, Sofia and Manolo have been in front of the camera several times, have also done modeling jobs together and simply because of their love for pop diva Cher and their infatuation with pets, the two will probably never run out of topics of conversation. Also, they share the same sense of humor. “He keeps kidding me!” Sofia Vergara once told Redbook Magazine – mainly because of her accent, which “can get worse and worse” in certain situations. But Sofia got her satisfaction: “So when I [2010] was nominated for an Emmy, I called him up and said, ‘There you have it! Even with my accent!'”

However, what makes their bond so special is the fact that they have always been a team. When the America’s Got Talent judge gave birth, she struggled on her own, but she could always count on her offspring. When the actress, who went without dates during Manolo’s childhood, married Joe Manganiello in Palm Beach, Fla., on November 22, 2015, her son walked her down the aisle — crying because he was so happy for his mother. The 50-year-old also always supported her offspring and will certainly support them in all other projects that they will tackle in the future. After all, it’s still: Sofia and Manolo against the rest of the world.
