(CercleFinance.com) – Soitec announces the inauguration of its new factory, located in Bernin, in the heart of its historic cradle in Grésivaudan, near Grenoble, a factory dedicated to the production of SmartSiC substrates which will equip new generations of vehicles electrical.
Based on silicon carbide (SiC), SmartSiC technology improves the efficiency of power conversion systems, enabling reduced power losses, better thermal management and increased power density.
With an area of 2,500 m2, the factory will have the capacity to ultimately produce 500,000 SmartSiC wafers per year. It will contribute to Soitec’s sustainable growth strategy and will ultimately enable the creation of nearly 400 direct jobs.
