“SOKO Stuttgart” actress Jasmin Gassmann reveals in an interview how demanding the acting profession is and what it really takes to be successful.

Actress Jasmin Gassmann, 32, has not been part of the popular “SOKO Stuttgart” series for long. She made her first appearance as detective inspector Lea Gomez in the episode “Sonnengrusss ins Jenseits” on December 30, 2021 on ZDF. But Gassmann has been pursuing the profession of actress for much longer. At the age of 16 she moved alone to the USA to study acting at the New York Film Academy. So Gassmann can tell a lot about the job and the industry. In an interview with “Insider Tip Stuttgart”, she reveals why it is the most beautiful job for her – and why she would still not recommend it to anyone.

“SOKO Stuttgart” star Gassmann knows the high demands of the industry well

In addition to her role in “SOKO Stuttgart”, the actress has already worked as a director and even wrote the screenplay for her short film “LUZ” (in German: light), which was released in 2019. So she knows the industry from several perspectives and knows about the major challenges that actors are faced with. “Only a few can make a good living from the job,” she says in an interview. “You’re constantly being evaluated and you’re often rejected. That leads to financial bottlenecks and existential fears.” It takes perseverance, talent, discipline and “above all a lot of luck” to be successful in the industry. The latter point in particular is probably the reason for the sentence Gassmann likes to use to describe her work:

I always say: Acting is the best job that you can’t recommend.

That connects Gassmann with her role

In “SOKO Stuttgart” Lea is particularly noticeable because of her clumsiness – be it motor skills or her tendency to step into any faux pas. In fact, that’s one thing the actress and character have in common, as Gassmann openly admits. This also automatically leads to funny experiences on the set – albeit more for the colleagues. “I’m an insane clumsy person, I keep bumping into tables and doors and accidentally dropping props,” reveals the actress. But she doesn’t play herself in the series, because unlike her, Lea is “on the one hand more emotional, but on the other hand more analytical”.

On Thursday, March 24, 2022, the season finale of the 13th season of “SOKO Stuttgart” will be shown on ZDF, in which Gassmann will be seen in her popular role. The episode “The Last Will” is already available in the media library.
