Solar cells and power storage at IKEA: The PV system can do that for 10,500 euros (update)

ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES

Ikea wants to make the purchase, installation and operation of a solar system and electricity storage as easy as possible. We take a closer look at the offer, which also raises questions.

It’s far from the first electronic product that Ikea has to offer, but it’s probably one of the most sought-after at the moment. Anyone who wants to take the alternative energy supply into their own hands will now find various complete sets at Ikea – with and without power storage.

IKEA is thus offering a product that is currently in extremely high demand. But as Netzwelt found out, the furniture giant and the Swedish partner Svea were surprised by the great demand and could even discontinue the program completely in the near future.. You should therefore look out for an alternative offer, which you can obtain using our calculator below.

Background: Ikea does not manufacture the solar cells and the power storage itself, but works with an external partner, as was the case last time with the offer of a tiny house, who is also your contractual partner in the event of a contract. Similar to some Tchibo products, Ikea takes on the role of an intermediary.

Buy solar systems, wall boxes and power storage from Ikea

Interested parties can first get an overview of the offer on this Ikea page – and this despite the fact that there are currently problems with the processing. For all subsequent steps you will be forwarded to the Svea Solar website.

You will then be contacted and details about installation, delivery times and costs incurred will be clarified. The latter should take place as part of a site inspection together with an expert, who will then prepare the offer.

PV system from Ikea – that’s what the cheapest package can do

Ikea and Svea Solar offer you three basic packages that are graded according to size. The smallest package, priced from EUR 10,500, includes 8 solar modules with a peak output of 3.28 kW. You can arm yourself against power failures with a power storage unit. The “small system” with a 5 kWh storage unit costs 5,000 euros. The bottom line is the acquisition costs of 15,500 euros.

An additional charging station (wall box) for e-cars costs 1,850 euros. If you choose the charging station with dynamic load management, you pay 2,090 euros.

A small household should be well supplied with the basic solution. Larger households can order up to 28 PV modules with a peak output of 11.48 kW at a price of EUR 24,900. All packages include an inverter, handover, delivery and installation.

Those are the alternatives

We currently advise against making use of the Ikea offer. IKEA is stubbornly silent when asked by Netzwelt about the delivery situation. Below we have selected a few alternatives for you. You can get more offers for installing a PV system from local tradespeople if you use the tool we have included above.

A possible alternative to the PV system from IKEA are so-called solar roof tiles. These are not only available from Tesla, but also from German companies. Do you want to go one size smaller and cheaper? Then the Zendure home energy system that we tested might be an option. Simpler power stations and solar generators are even cheaper.
