Adele is said to have refused the Queen’s invitation to her platinum anniversary under an excuse. And another star apparently canceled.

It would have been an absolute honor for most musicians to sing for Queen Elizabeth II (96) on the occasion of her platinum anniversary in early June. Superstar Adele (34), herself a native of London, is said to have given the monarch a basket, as the “Daily Mail” now reports. Even more: A source close to the singer is said to have found out that alleged overlapping dates were cited in order to stay away from the event.

“That caused a lot of surprises, especially because they are going to the MBE [Member of the Order of the British Empire, Anm. d. Red.] was appointed,” the source is quoted as saying, wondering about the decision himself. “How many opportunities will there be to perform for the Queen in front of Buckingham Palace?”

Not the only cancellation?

According to the report, however, Adele was in illustrious company. Shooting star Harry Styles (28) also declined to appear at the Queen’s 70th jubilee. The 96-year-old shouldn’t have grieved too much because of that. With the band Queen, Ed Sheeran (31), Sir Elton John (75) and Sir Rod Stewart (77), the line-up was still very well-known.
