Particularly anticipated by anime fans, the adaptation of the webtoon Solo Leveling was revealed on December 11 during a preview at the Grand Rex. So, did the discovery of the first episodes meet spectators’ expectations?
An original anime with a unique journey
Announced in 2022, the adaptation of Solo Leveling managed to attract the attention of anime fans with its flamboyant artistic direction, its animation signed A-1 Pictures (Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online, Mashle) and the originality which is unique to it: contrary to appearances, Solo Leveling is not adapted from a manga!
Indeed, the new Crunchyroll series is taken from an ultra-popular webtoon (South Korean comics published directly online on the eponymous platform), itself adapted from a web novel launched in 2016.

Spectators won over by the first two episodes
During a preview organized at the Grand Rex on Monday, December 11, the first two episodes of Solo Leveling were screened to a few hundred lucky people.
Newcomers and fans of the webtoon rubbed shoulders for no less than 40 minutes, during which they were able to form their opinions on the new Crunchyroll series. At the end of this event screening, what opinions stand out?
The least we can say is that the first episodes of Solo Leveling did not fail to satisfy the spectators, but also to arouse their curiosity. Only one objective for them now: to hold out until January in order to discover the rest of the season!
This is the only regret of Manon Maroufi, from the AlloCiné team, who “already want to have the sequel” and underlines the quality of the atmosphere “scary, uncensored, action-packed”.
Same story for other Internet users, who recognize that the anime “follows the webtoon identically”, but also that “the additions are really cool”.
In addition to the animation, the opening (beginning credits) and the OST (original soundtracks) are also qualified as “magnificent”.
