British consumer confidence may well have been affected by the uncertainty about the economic situation. In any case, we will know more this Friday, after the publication of the index measuring it in July, expected by the Bloomberg consensus to drop by one point to -42.

The economic agenda of the day will continue in Germany, where producer prices will be revealed by the national statistics office Destatis. They are expected to fall: for the month of June, producer prices were up 32.7% over one year and the Bloomberg consensus anticipates a rise of 31.8% for the month of July.

UK retail sales expected to decline further

Then, return to the other side of the Channel, where retail sales should go up the slope, from -5.9% in June to -3.1% forecast for July.

Before the opening of the last Paris session of the week, early risers will have taken notice of the Japanese inflation figures.
