Lubricant is a great ally for making love without pain. However, a study has revealed that certain lubricants are harmful to fertility. We explain to you.

Lubricating gel is sometimes useful to make intercourse easier and more enjoyable. When applied to the intimate areas, the product helps to prevent vaginal dryness and thus avoid pain. A real asset for mutual pleasure, there are lubricants of all kinds and for all budgets on the market. Sometimes used as an intimate massage oil, the lubricant has become essential for some. If the pleasure is in order with the lubricant, it is not necessarily the perfect product and can even prove to be harmful. Researchers have studied the effects of lubricant on fertility. And the results are worrying.

A team of researchers from the University of Pretoria in South Africa analyzed the effects of lubricants on sperm.

Lubricant reduces sperm motility

The study highlights the impact of lubricants on fertility. 5 lubricant products were tested on 60 semen samples. The selection of brands tested was varied. Sperm samples were brought into contact with these lubricants and 72 hours later, the finding is clear. All lubricating gels impacted fertility and reduced sperm motility.

Consequence: if the lubricant can be an ally for a fulfilling sexuality, it is not necessarily so if one wishes to conceive a child. To prevent possible problems when the desire to procreate a child is in order, prefer PH neutral lubricants.
