Somerville Studio Joins Thunderful Group

Although no longer able to claim independent studio status, Jumpship assures that it will keep the creative freedom that allowed it to design Somerville once under the Thunderful flag. Founded in 2017 by Dino Patti after his departure from Playdead, Jumpship specializes in narrative and atmospheric games. With 27 employees and collaborators, the studio joins a family of studios including the creators of the games SteamWorld, The Gunk, Fe, Ghost Giant and Lost in Random. Thunderful Games also owns the Coatsink, Headup, and Robot Teddy publishing labels.

To recruit Jumpship, Thunderful has made an offer of £6 million in cash, an offer which could go up to £24 million depending on the results which will be recorded by December 2027. For now, Thunderful Games estimates that Jumpship will generate a turnover of 6.5 million euros in the last quarter of 2022. In addition to his current responsibilities at Jumpship, Dino Patti will take on the role of strategic consultant for Thunderful Games.

The level of interest that Jumpship managed to generate for their first title shows that they are a team with a deep artistic vision. This addition to our already diverse and accomplished roster of talent under the Thunderful Studios umbrella is an important part of our strategy to build strong franchises. We look forward to supporting the Jumpship team as they harness their talent for building impactful narrative experiences, while continuing to create fantastic titles within the Thunderful family.“, commented Agostino Simonetta, Chief Gaming Officer at Thunderful Games.
