Sonic Frontiers: despite the negative feedback from Internet users, the producer has confidence in his game

Sonic Frontiers will be the next big blue hedgehog adventure from SEGAand the studio decided this time to offer a gameplay in an open world, with platform phases and puzzles, but also fights, which have been presented through videos in recent days. Unfortunately, feedback from internet users was far from positive.

This obviously reached the ears of Takashi Iizuka, producer of Sonic Frontiers, but without affecting his morale. In an interview given to VGChe explains that discovering the game via online videos does not help to understand its mechanics and its gameplayviewers focusing on the comparison:

It’s not really surprising. We realize that everyone is just reacting to the videos they’ve seen, and because they don’t understand what this new gameplay is, they kind of compare it to other games they already know.

So we see a lot of people saying, “Oh, it’s a bit like that, it’s a bit like that, but it’s not like that, it’s not like that.” And really, the team is taking a risk and creating this new game format for Sonic, we call it an “open area” format.

And this new game system itself is something that doesn’t really exist in other comparable titles, so we really hope that from now until launch we can really explain what the open area gameplay.

Takashi Iizuka therefore has confidence in his game, it now remains to convince future players, he also invites them to come and get their hands on Sonic Frontiers at the gamescom or to Tokyo Game Show to try it, and not to stop at simple online videos. Moreover, the producer explains that the internal tests are going very well, the players appreciate the experience and the developers do not intend to change it or postpone the launchexcept in cases of force majeure. Sonic Frontiers does not yet have a precise release date, but it is expected in 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. In the meantime, you can find sonic forces at €29.99 on Amazon.
