Even though Sonic Frontiers seems to have conquered part of the community, there is a consensus around the technical problems of the game, which are rather difficult. Now that everyone has the game in their hands, SEGA is forced to admit that the game still deserved tweaking, and the director of the latter is quick to admit it. Morio Kishimoto spoke about it on Twitter over the weekend, to express his relief that the game is finally available, but also to see that the game and the series can do better.
A giant playtest at cost price?

In his tweet, Kishimoto promises to first study all criticism around the game, while admitting that it will still be a long way before the game is stable. But what annoyed some of the community was the fact that Kishimoto called it all a ” global playtest » :
” We look at reviews from critics and players. As you pointed out, there are still areas where we are not yet at a satisfactory level, and we will take this seriously as a global playtest. »
No doubt the director simply wanted to show that the team was now going to focus on all the bugs by making a comparison with the playtests that arrived during development, while learning from their mistakes for a potential sequel. The choice of words is in any case quite clumsy, since it can be interpreted in the wrong way.
A record on Steam
At the same time, Sonic Frontiers cardboard. At least on Steam, since the first figures presented by SteamDB are more than encouraging for the series.
With 19,181 players at the same time, Sonic Frontiers achieves the highest score in the series on the Valve platform. The record was previously held by sonic mania peaking at over 11,000 people.
We are now waiting to find out if this success will also be seen on the console versions, knowing that the competition is tough in November.
