Sonic Frontiers: the skill tree and the abilities of the hedgehog in the spotlight of a new video

In less than a month will be released Sonic Frontiers, an episode like no other that will offer us to survey a world made up of open areas, in addition to running at full speed in more classic levels. We have already been able to have a foretaste of its scenario, of its possibilities of gameplay and even the shape super sonic during a boss fight. SEGA now takes a closer look at our hero’s encounters and upgradesbecause yes, he also starts using a skill tree as mentioned above.

As you can see in the trailer released for the occasion, this skill tree is rudimentary, with a dozen abilities to unlock in exchange for “coins” to pick up from defeated enemies or by destroying objects in the environment. In the face of enemies, sonic can still perform the homing attack, drop dash, and stomp (to crush the threat from the air), but he will have to gather red and blue seeds respectively related to power and defense to become stronger. Indeed, it is said that the enemies of Kronos Islandthe first island of the game, are nothing compared to those of the following ones…

To get rid of threats, he can rely on combos and use the Phantom Rush once the appropriate gauge is filled, giving the impression that it multiplies on the screen. From a distance, the sonic boom will send out shockwaves with his kicks. Otherwise, the wild rush will cause it to zigzag towards the enemy, handy in the event of a targeted attack, resulting in a powerful blow. In addition to its use for puzzles, the Race-loop will allow us to run around creatures with a shield to break it, or even have fun going around in circles in the environment to recover rings, inseparable from the license and serving as a sort of gauge of life. But the best will be all the same do not get hurt by parrying attacks and then counter-attacking.

Finally, all this will be put to use during the clashes against the Guardiansthe bosses each having their own mechanics to overcome.

If this overview has convinced you, Sonic Frontiers is expected on November 8 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC. You can pre-order it on Amazon at a price of €59.99.
