Sonic Frontiers was originally slated for release in 2021 to celebrate Sonic’s 30th birthday

It was during a question-and-answer session with investors that the Sonic Stadium site, relayed by Game Informer, spotted this. The open-world game was previously slated for release in 2021, but the team needed a lot more time to complete the project:
