Sonic Superstars, a new 2D adventure, is coming this fall

SEGA took advantage of the Summer Game Fest 2023 to present Sonic Superstars. The little blue hedgehog’s next title, which looks set to dive back into the classic 2D vibe – where it’s best – will hit PC and all consoles this fall.

The trailer shows us a game that goes back a bit to Sonic basics, namely a fast-paced 2D sidescroller. But with updated graphics, in 3D. The gameplay is however a little less nervous than what one might expect, and it is most certainly because of the biggest novelty presented: local co-op. Like the latest 3D episodes of Super Mario Worldlike what one will never go far from the other.

Sonic, Tails, Knucles and Amy Rose will therefore be available to navigate the levels and take advantage of their unique abilities. New powers could also be seen, including the ability to climb waterfalls or move on the walls of the decor. And if we are necessarily careful after years of disappointment with the license, the title has with it a very nice little retro vibe.

Sonic Superstars will be released in fall 2023 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch.
