In a very nostalgic spirit, as wanted by the audience targeted by the game, the sequence opens with the misdeeds of the Badniks of Dr. Eggman, whose role is to capture the little zanimals of the Northstar Islands. Sonic then arrives with a bang to clean up the gentle tinkling of the rings before finding Tails, Knuckles and Amy, with whom he will form the group of four playable characters of Sonic Superstars. The Chaos Emeralds also return to the center of the story and will be the source of new abilities, including one allowing multiplication.
But you must be some kind of superstar
The Sonic franchise’s resident composers, Tee Lopes and Jun Senoue, are credited on this cutscene. Fully playable alone or up to four in local co-op for the first time, Sonic Superstars will be released this fall on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch and PC. Developed by Arzest, Naoto Ôshima’s studio, which precisely designed the character of Sonic in the early 90s, the game will try to ride the excellent shape of the hedgehog after the commercial success of Sonic Frontiers (more than 3.5 million copies distributed worldwide).
