The video game adaptation "Sonic the Hedgehog" celebrated its premiere in February 2020 and attracted over 360,000 viewers to 475 cinema screens at the launch weekend in Germany. The film got a sample result of around $ 100 million worldwide on the first weekend. As the US industry paper "Variety" reports, a sequel is already being planned. Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy have confirmed this. Jeff Fowler (41) will direct again and Pat Casey and Josh Miller will write the script. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara are named as producers.
The sequel is currently in development, cast decisions or a start date for production have not yet been announced. "Sonic the Hedgehog" celebrated its German premiere on February 20.
