- Sonos is said to be working on the successor to the Move.
- The second generation of the Bluetooth smart speaker should primarily receive small improvements.
- But there could be a lot going on in terms of connectivity.
Sonos recently introduced two new speakers, the Era 100 and Era 300, which will go on sale at the end of March 2023. Now the audio specialist is already working on the next release. This is apparently about the Sonos Move, which should receive an update in the second half of 2023.
The Move is a mix of smart speaker and Bluetooth speaker. It has an integrated rechargeable battery and can therefore be operated wirelessly. According to The Verge, the second generation is currently in development.
Sonos Move in the test: It also wants to play outside
First outdoor speaker from Sonos with Bluetooth
Hell freezes over! Sono’s new speaker is drawn outside, it transmits via Bluetooth and automatically measures the room sound. The Sonos Move thus celebrates three premieres in the test.
The Sonos Move 2 should mainly be a product update with small revisions. The speaker should have a similar design to the previous Move and integrate the connectivity of the Era models. Then the speaker could be controlled both via WLAN and via Bluetooth in the future. It is also possible for USB-C to be integrated, which can be used to use a line-in adapter for playback devices.
In addition, the manufacturer should improve the internal computing power and the RAM so that the Move 2 can be supplied with updates for a long time. Sonos has made the Era 100 stereo capable with a second tweeter. Whether that will also be the case with Move 2 is still unclear – but not unlikely.
