According to first images shared by The Verge, Sonos is preparing a new generation of its Sonos Roam portable speaker. The differences would be minimal, with the design remaining the same apart from the brand logo matching the color of the device.
No longer need to use the Sonos app?
The Sonos Roam 2 portable speaker would have two buttons on the back, according to the images. One of them would be dedicated to Bluetooth pairing and good news, this model would allow you to play your music from any device without configuring it on the home wifi network via the Sonos application. As a reminder, Bloomberg announced that the Sonos Roam 2 portable speaker would have a capacitive volume slider similar to the Era 100, Era 300 and Move 2 models. But according to The Verge, the final design would ignore the latter and opt for physical buttons. It is possible that this choice was made during development, perhaps because this technology is not practical when used in a bathroom with wet fingers.
A price similar to the current generation?
Unfortunately, The Verge does not provide details on internal driver or hardware reliability improvements. The Sonos Roam 2 portable speaker could be sold at the same price as its predecessor with a marketing date for this summer of 2024.
