Sony achieves record annual turnover – Gamosaurus


While all players in the video game sector share their financial results for the past year, Sony announces something to delight its shareholders. The company is indeed far from being to be pitied financially.

Despite a video game activity that does not fully live up to its objectives, Sony achieves figures that can be described as colossal. Thus, during the fiscal year which ended on March 31, 2024, Sony Interactive Entertainment saw its turnover reach 25.2 billion euros and thus beat its own record. Operating profit is estimated at 1.7 billion euros.

For comparison, the previous fiscal year represented a turnover of nearly 21.5 billion euros for 1.4 billion in operating profit.

According to the report, console sales alone represent nearly 7.1 billion euros even if the slightest promotion on PS5s generates loss-making sales for the manufacturer. Downloaded games are well ahead of boxed games with 3.8 billion euros compared to 1 billion. Finally, PlayStation Plus is far from being anecdotal since it alone brings in nearly 3.2 billion euros.

Even with figures below their forecasts, Sony managed to sell 20.8 million PlayStation 5s, compared to 19.1 million during the previous year. On the games side, sales also increased with 286.4 million games sold over the fiscal year. The opportunity for Sony to emphasize its latest success which is Helldiverse 2 with its 12 million sales in 12 weeks.
