It’s official, the Sony and Honda groups will deliver their first electric vehicle in 2026.
This launch only concerns the United States at first, then Japan.
Sony-Honda electric car finds a launch date
At the beginning of March, Sony and Honda sealed a historic alliance aimed at producing electric and connected vehicles. This Sony Honda Mobility joint venture, capitalized at 10 billion yen, is owned equally by the two groups. It thus begins to organize the design of its first electric car, and today, Sony and Honda confirm that the latter will be launched in 2026.
According to the press release jointly published by the two Japanese giants, the first deliveries are planned for North America from the spring of 2026, while Japan will have to wait until the second half of the same year. In addition, this vehicle will be assembled in the United States, in Ohio, within a Honda factory.
For the record, Masayuso Ito, nicknamed “the architect of the Playstation”, recently joined this new structure developed by Sony and Honda. There is no doubt that the vehicle to come should offer a new way of traveling, with new driving technologies, but also of having fun on board.
