Sony has launched an update to its flagship hybrid, the Sony Alpha 1 (A1). On the menu, improved 8K and more flexibility in saving Raw files.
Without warning, Sony rolled out an update on June 13 for its flagship, the Alpha 1 (A1) camera. This update brings some interesting options. So it’s now possible to record 8K and 4:2:2 10-bit footage internally – up from 4:2:0 10-bit previously – but still at a maximum of 30 fps.
In photography, we also have new formats in the lossless Raw compression mode. Where there was only one option, you can now opt for three lossless compression modes: L (50 Mpx), M (21 Mpx) and S (12 Mpx). This allows you to capture Raw in lower definitions and thus lighten your workflow. A trick that can be found for example on Nikon hybrids such as the Z6 II and Z7 II.
This update also allows the recording of proxy files in video via a remote connection to a computer. Sony also says it has improved the precision of focusing on the eyes and optimized the general operation of the case.
