While waiting for the announcement of a firm and final release date, the PlayStation VR2 reveals its many innovations that will make the gaming experience more enjoyable.

For example, Sony’s new VR headset includes options to avoid accidents during a game.

A helmet that focuses on transparency

According to the latest rumors, that expensive PS VR2 won’t arrive until next year. But that doesn’t stop Sony from promoting its virtual reality headset. In a recent article published on the PlayStation-Blogthe Japanese manufacturer comes back with precision on some technologies that will be included in its device intended for the PS5.

Starting with a mode called “transparent view”. This will allow the user to find his way around his environment without having to remove the helmet. The cameras positioned on the front will display the image on the device’s on-board screens. The function will be activated via a dedicated button or from a card in the console’s Control Center.

For maximum safety

Always with a view to finding their way around a room and thus avoiding hitting an object (or someone) inadvertently, the player will have the opportunity to define a personalized play area. When the person is at the edge of this area, a notification will be sent to them. The space can even be saved for future games. In addition, by using the official HD camera of the PS5, we can film ourselves during a game and therefore appear during a live broadcast.

Finally, Sony plans to incorporate a so-called “cinematic” mode into the PlayStation VR2. It aims to broadcast non-VR compatible content on a virtual screen. The resolution will then be limited to 1,920 x 1,080 pixels with a frame rate of 24, 60 or 120 Hz. For its part, the VR mode that can be activated in-game will opt for a video format of 4,000 x 2,040 pixels at 90/120Hz.

Now we just have to wait for the announcement of a price and a more precise launch window.
