Sony Interactive Entertainment insists on esports with the acquisition of Repeat.gg

Designed to make esports accessible, Repeat.gg tracks player performance using an automated system that is touted as easy to use. According to the press release published by the platform, its acquisition by SIE will be synonymous with new resources that will allow it to expand its organizational capacities for millions of players and implement new functionalities in the years to come. Mandatory clarification, Repeat.gg remains an agnostic platform compatible with PC, mobile and all consoles on the market, not just the PlayStation. Since its inception, the company says it has hosted more than 100,000 tournaments with 2.3 million participants.

At PlayStation, our vision for esports has always been about breaking down barriers so players can compete at all levels. Together with the talented team at Repeat.gg, we are excited to explore new ways for gamers to engage in competitive play and expand the breadth of our esports offerings. This is just the start of our journey and we look forward to sharing more updates with our community in the future.“comments Steven Roberts, Vice President of Competitive Gaming at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In addition to being co-organizer of the Evo with the company RTS, Sony Interactive Entertainment has been organizing its PlayStation Tournaments for years directly from its consoles. Last year, players won $5 million across 8,000 tournaments.
