As previously said, Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation) is changing management. The company aims on the one hand to consolidate its position in the video game sector and on the other hand, it wishes to prepare the foundations for long-term sustainable growth. It is Hideaki Nishino, senior vice president of the Platform Experience Group, and Hermen Hulst, senior vice president and head of PlayStation Studios, who will interest us. They both change position in the company and this rise in rank will be effective from June 1, 2024.

New management at Sony
After the departure of Jim Ryan, not one, but two bosses await PlayStation. Japanese Hideaki Nishino will become CEO of the activity platform, that is to say he will take care of PlayStation products and services (Hardware, networks, relations with publishers, etc.). For its part, the Dutch Hermen Hulst will become responsible for video game development as general manager of the studios. This means he will oversee the development, publishing and commercial operations of SIE’s video game content. For Hermen, this is not a very big change, but for Nishino, it is still a very different position that he will take from June 1st. We therefore understand that the PlayStation 5 seeks to “divide and conquer”. With responsibilities greater in importance, but smaller in number, this division of power should allow the company to better take care of not only its current situation, but also its future.
Xbox already has three parents
Except that this idea, Xbox has already implemented it, with no less than three people: Phil Spencer, Matt Booty and Sarah Bond. The first is one of the executives at Xbox. The second is the head of Xbox Game Studios and the third is none other than the president of Xbox.
