Sony officially announces the prices of its new QD-Oled TVs

This year, Sony will expand its range of Oled televisions by offering the first models equipped with a QD-Oled panel manufactured by Samsung Display. The Japanese manufacturer created a surprise at CES 2022 by unveiling the world’s first QD-Oled TV, stealing the show from Samsung, which was thought to be ready to launch its first QD-Oled TVs. Sony’s first QD-Oled TV will be available in Europe in May. In Germany, the Sony XR-55A95K in the 55-inch (140 cm) version will sell for around €3,050, while the Sony XR-65A95K in the 65-inch (165 cm) version will cost around €4,050. Sony should officially communicate the prices of these televisions for France later this week. We will then update the information. In comparison, the LG G2 television equipped with the new Oled Evo panel with a dedicated cooling system is sold for €2,500 in the 55-inch version (LG 55G2) and €3,300 in the 65-inch version (LG 65G2). In the meantime, Samsung’s QD-Oled TV has appeared on Amazon in the US, but the release date in Europe remains unknown.

LG Oled TV: the prices of the new A2, B2, C2, G2 and Z2 models

The prices of QD-Oled televisions are logically a little higher than those of equivalent high-end “classic” Oled televisions such as the G2 equipped with a new panel supposed to be brighter. It will be necessary to assess whether QD-Oled technology really manages to do better than LG Display’s Oled. The first feedback on QD-Oled technology is quite mixed and for now, the visible gain is only very slight and probably does not justify the price difference. However, we will wait to test Sony’s QD-Oled televisions to give us an opinion on this new technology. In the meantime, you can read our file on the advent of QD-Oled or our impressions of the Sony A95K, which we have already seen on the premises of Sony France.
