Sony unveils its new Xperia
Although behind the essentials of Apple, Samsung and others, Sony is continuing its journey on the smartphone market with its Xperia range. Today, the Japanese giant formalizes its new Xperia 5 IV, a smartphone with a large 6.1″ OLED panel, still in the (rather atypical) 21:9 format.
As always with Sony, we offer a high-performance screen, with a 120 Hz compatible FHD + OLED panel, without forgetting of course an HDR rendering worthy of the name to make the most of compatible content. A screen with thin borders on the lower and upper part, on which there is a 12-megapixel front camera.
The photo, again and again
Beyond the screen, this new Xperia 5 IV smartphone also gives pride of place to the photo/video section. It includes technologies Eye AF and Object Trackingreleased by Alpha series cameras.
In total, the Xperia 5 IV is adorned with a photo module consisting of three 12-megapixel sensors, with the possibility of capturing videos in 4K/120 fps. Note that the smartphone can act as an external monitor, by coupling it (for example) to a Sony Alpha camera.
A smartphone certified both IP65 and IP68, which does not ignore this good old 3.5 mm jack. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM (and 128GB of storage).
It offers stereo audio rendering, and has a 5,000 mAh battery, compatible with wireless charging and 30 W fast charging.
A smartphone of undeniable technical quality therefore, as often with Sony, but which will once again have to face competition that is fierce to say the least, not to mention a price placement that is still very (too) high.
Indeed, this new Sony Xperia 5 IV will be available in September 2022 from the usual resellers and operators at the recommended retail price of 1,049 euros. It will be available in black, green and ecru white.
