  • Sony has started distributing Android 13.
  • Two current Sony Xperia models will start.
  • However, the manufacturer still leaves many questions unanswered.

Sony has been working on its own version of Android 13 for the past few weeks and it finally seems to be ready. Because the manufacturer announced on Facebook that the first Sony smartphones are now receiving the update. The first are the Sony Xperia 5 IV and the Sony Xperia 1 IV.

Unfortunately, Sony has not given any exact details about the process of the update distribution. Accordingly, it is not entirely clear when the update will be available in which countries, how much storage space it requires and what special features Sony’s Android 13 version has.

If you own one of the two models, we recommend that you check your settings from time to time to see whether an update is already available there.

What’s new?

On the whole, the new features will probably be the same as those of Android 13. These include, for example, a new user interface design, new colors, revision of some app icons, a greater focus on digital well-being, new languages for various apps, more security and much more.

Of course, in the final version from Sony, there may still be some Sony-specific settings and applications that were added by the manufacturer itself. As soon as we have information on this, we will update this article.
