Sony: The PlayStation 5 will hit the market for that much

A few more weeks, then video game fans can hold the next generation of PlayStation in their hands. This is how much the PS5 will cost.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced just before the PlayStation 5 was released how much the new console would cost. The fixed start date is now also official. The PS5 will appear in two versions. A conventional version with an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive will be available for the recommended retail price of 499.99 euros, a "Digital Edition" – without drive – for a whole hundred euros less (399.99 euros).

The waiting is over

The PS5 will be released in seven countries on November 12, 2020 – the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Japan. Local tech fans will have to wait a little longer, because in the rest of the world, including Germany, the PlayStation 5 will not be available until a week later – on November 19th. The console will be available for pre-order starting September 17th today at select retailers.

But the competition never sleeps. Microsoft had previously published the price and release date for the new Xbox Series X. This will be available worldwide from November 10, 2020 and can be pre-ordered from September 22. Again, the price is 499.99 euros. A less powerful version, the Xbox Series S, will also appear on November 10th and cost 299.99 euros.
