soon a 100% electric version, coupe or convertible?

After SUVs and electric sedans, Audi could tackle “pleasure” models with a sports electric coupe cabriolet inspired by the TT.

Audi e-tron Spyder concept (2010)

At Audi, as with many other manufacturers, the future is electric. The manufacturer’s strategy is simple: in 2026, Audi will stop developing heat enginesand in 2033, the company will simply stop marketing themthus anticipating European regulations concerning combustion engines by two years.

In the current range, there will obviously be big changes to come, especially on the low-volume models, which could also be described as a fun car.

Electric, but still fun to drive

On the electric side, this role is taken on by the formidable e-tron GT. For the thermal part, it’s the Audi R8 and its fabulous V10 that still does the job, but not for very long. According to Markus Duesmann, the boss of the firm with the rings, if the TT is to have a new generation, it will be electric only. And the same goes for the R8. However, the leader does not forget the essentials despite the switch to electric: the pleasure of driving, the leitmotif of this range, even if this model with a sporting vocation will not necessarily be the direct heir of the TT. .

An Audi based on Porsche? Or the opposite

It remains to be seen on what basis this sporting model will be based. Audi will surely not develop a platform and an engine specifically for this model. The basis will certainly be the PPE platform developed by Audi and Porschewhile the electric motor(s) should be drawn from the Volkswagen group’s organ bank.

It would also not be surprising if this future sporty and electric Audi shares many elements with the next generations of Porsche Cayman and Boxster presented in 2025 and which will also be electric.

Audi: an electric monster is in the works

Audi plans to return to the front of the electric scene with a two-door super-sports car, more powerful than any other model in the range. A sort of zero-emission R8, but whose…
