Soon? – Tesla wants to build a 25,000 euro car in Germany

Europe is waiting for cheaper electric cars without a cheap image – Elon Musk’s announcement comes at just the right time: The Tesla boss has announced that he wants to build an electric car at the Grünheide factory near Berlin at a base price of 25,000 euros.

So far there has been talk of the “Cheap Model” rolling off the production line in Mexico, but the completion of this plant has been delayed. The move to the German Gigafactory coincides with another month of success for the US group: The Model Y – which is also produced in Grünheide – was the best-selling car in Europe in September. The consulting company Jato counted 29,309 new registrations in the EU and the United Kingdom. They were followed by the small cars Peugeot 208 (22,188 units) and Renault Clio (20,088 units). The most popular German car was the VW Golf in fourth place with 19,441 new registrations. The 19,265 Mel newly registered small car Dacia Sandero landed just behind. However, it must be noted that Tesla has very fluctuating delivery figures for logistical reasons. Another Tesla could soon be at the top of this list, because the number of electric cars at this price level is small and is unlikely to explode in the short term. Elon Musk has confirmed the construction of the inexpensive model on site in Grünheide, and there is also a corresponding announcement on the short message service Fans have been waiting for the market launch of the Tesla Cybertruck for what feels like an eternity. Tesla presented the battery-operated pick-up in November 2019. VW also wants to offer an electric car from 25,000 euros with the series model of the ID.2all from 2025, Citroen will launch the ë-C3 in spring 2024 from 24,000 euros, later even with a smaller battery 20,000 euros.
