Acting legend Sophia Loren fell and broke her hip. She had to have surgery.
Great concern for Sophia Loren (89): The acting legend has apparently fallen in her home in Geneva, Switzerland, according to Italian media reports. It is said that she broke her hip. According to reports, the 89-year-old has already had a successful operation and is in the recovery phase.
“Luckily everything went well”
According to the newspaper “La Repubblica”, Loren should have opened a new branch of the “Sophia Loren” restaurant chain in Bari next Tuesday (September 26th), the fourth in Italy after the locations in Milan, Florence and Fiumicino. She should also have received honorary citizenship of the city in southern Italy. The restaurant chain reportedly said: “Fortunately, everything went well and Ms. Loren will be back with us very soon.” Her two sons Edoardo (50) and Carlo (54) are at the actress’ side.

In October 2022, Sophia Loren made a radiant appearance on the red carpet in Milan when the actress celebrated the opening of the restaurant named after her. The 89-year-old has always been considered a passionate cook and numerous books with her recipes have become bestsellers.
The Italian film diva, who turned 89 on September 20, also made a comeback in front of the camera three years ago. The Netflix film “You’ve Got Life Ahead of You” was her first full-fledged feature film in a decade. The actress, born in Rome in 1934, went to Hollywood at the end of the 1950s and subsequently became a global star. In total, Sophia Loren has appeared in over 100 films. In 1962 she won the Oscar for best actress for “And Yet They Live”, and in 1991 she also received the honorary Oscar for her life’s work.
