Sophie de Closets leaves the presidency of Fayard editions

The Hachette Livre group announced, in a press release, the departure of Sophie de Closets from the position of President and CEO of Fayard editions, Thursday March 24. Joining the group in 2004, she was appointed ten years later to this position, in January 2014, at the age of 35. Today “wanting to enter a new phase of her career”she was particularly noted for having won the French edition of the coveted memoirs of Barack and Michele Obama, in 2017.

“I spent eighteen wonderful years within the Hachette group where I learned the profession of publisher and where I was able to exercise it in exceptional conditions”she says in this press release.

In a survey released Wednesday, The world related how Nicolas Sarkozy, friend of Arnaud Lagardère, owner of the group, affirmed “to take care” of the publisher’s fate after the publication of books that displeased her.
