Sophie Turner: "Game of Thrones" star pregnant with protest

The often peaceful but also escalating anti-racism protests in the United States after the death of African American George Floyd continue. In the past few days, numerous celebrities have spoken out in favor of the protests and have also taken to the streets themselves. Among other things, they want to support the "Black Lives Matter" movement and point to widespread racism in society. British actress Sophie Turner (24), best known as Sansa Stark from the fantasy epic "Game of Thrones", and her husband Joe Jonas (30) have also joined the protests – even though Turner is probably very pregnant.

"White silence is violence"

The actress and singer released pictures and a short clip of the action on Instagram. They can also be seen on them with protective masks. Turner is holding a cardboard box with "White Silence is Violence" on it (in English: "White silence is violence"). The "Game of Thrones" star wrote in a comment: "No justice, no peace" and uses the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.

Many of her followers, including her fellow actor Alexandra Shipp (28), support Turner in her endeavors. "So proud of you, babe," Shipp writes, among other things. She knows how difficult it is to venture outside at the moment and Turner's "Courage speaks volumes". By that she certainly means not only the continuing corona crisis, but also the sometimes brutal use of the US police against peaceful demonstrators. In the past few days, various videos have been circulating on the Internet showing emergency services in questionable actions, including apparently unjustified aggression and violence against protesters.

Petition for Emerald Black

Also some fans worried about it in the comments, after all Turner is apparently currently very pregnant with her first baby. The actress seems aware of the risk. In an Instagram story, she linked an online petition that has now been signed by more than 1.8 million people and calls for justice for Emerald Black. The African American and her fiance were arrested by US police last summer, according to a statement on the petition's side. The police ordered the visibly pregnant Black out of the vehicle, threw it on the ground and kicked her in the stomach, among other things, which later resulted in a miscarriage.

Turner has been dating Jonas since 2016. The two announced their engagement in October 2017 and married in Las Vegas in 2019. For the first time in February 2020, US media reported that Turner was pregnant with her first child. According to other media reports from the states, Turner is expected to have her baby in the summer.
