Sophos offers two model series of managed switches

In order to be able to offer customers more products from a single source, the security service provider Sophos has expanded its portfolio and now offers two model series of managed switches. All devices can be managed together with other products from the manufacturer in its cybersecurity platform Sophos Central, but the complete range of functions is only available via the local web interface.

The first device series, the Sophos Switch 100 Series, consists of seven devices with 8, 24 or 48 1-GE ports, optionally with PoE capability according to 802.3af / 820.3at. The 8-port switches have 2 1G SFP ports and are also suitable for desktop or wall mounting. The larger devices each have 4 1G / 10G SFP + ports and come in a 1U rackmount housing.

The second model series, Sophos Switch 200 Series, currently consists of just one model with 8 2.5 GE ports. Two more types with 16 and 32 2.5GE ports are to follow by mid-2022. This series offers PoE according to 802.3af / 820.3at / 802.3bt and 4 1G / 10G-SPF + ports each.

The blog post on the product announcement states that the switches and their integration into security management are the key to future functions. Sophos will later be able to offer so-called “synchronized security” – albeit without specifying any specific data. There are currently only limited quantities of the switches, the official market launch is planned for January 11, 2022 in view of the corona-related circumstances.
