The Aargau SVP local politician Naveen Hofstetter (39) loves to provoke. This time the President of SVP Rothrist did not expect such a reaction. The Aargau SP President and National Councilor Gabriela Suter (48) reports the SVP hardliner for racial discrimination.
Marriage for everyone is “left-wing extremist” for him
It’s about a Facebook post Hofstetter about marriage for everyone. Hofstetter is a thorn in the side that some party colleagues, namely the Aargau SVP National Councilor Martina Bircher (37), publicly support the opening of marriage to homosexual couples.
Supporting a “cause originating from left-wing extremist cuisine” was “no gain for our conservative SVP,” he wrote, but was damaging to the party’s credibility. “Left-wing extremists” are obviously everyone who does not politicize on the right-wing fringes for Hofstetter. After all, it was the GLP that advocated marriage for everyone in 2013 and thus started the debate.
After the deletion, he added
However, that is not what leads to criminal penalties. Rather, Hofstetter used the topic to incite against African refugees. In a first version of the Facebook post, he wrote: “If we now allow African refugees (mostly men) to be able to adopt little girls for the purpose of ‹figgifiggi› in the near future, then good night to our culture.”
Hofstetter deleted the passage after being heavily criticized for it. However, he was apparently not aware that the post’s processing history was still visible. As a reason for the deletion, he stated that he had achieved his goal of distracting from the split in the SVP. But he added that it was “simply the reality” that “it is often the youngest girls who are sexually molested by men of African origin”.
Hofstetter faces a fine
Gabriela Suter doesn’t just leave it like that. On Sunday evening, she filed a criminal complaint on suspicion of violating the racism criminal norm, which she says she will send today. Hofstetter accuses a group of people of criminal, dishonorable and immoral behavior, she argues in a letter to the public prosecutor. African refugees would be degraded in their dignity and slandered.
A violation of the racism penal norm is punishable by up to three years in prison or a fine. Hofstetter is likely to threaten the latter. (lha)
