He insisted on paying for his soda before leaving the scene of his crime: a young Spaniard was arrested after robbing a gas station in the south of Spain with an accomplice, the police announced on Friday. The young man, still a minor, is accused of having attacked this gas station located near Malaga, in Andalusia, on the evening of January 2, with his sidekick, using an imitation handgun.

“The intention to buy a scooter with the stolen money”

“After threatening the employees, he took money from the cash register, around 2,000 euros,” the police said in a press release. “Curiously, he decided to pay for the soda he had grabbed from a display before fleeing,” she adds.

The young man and his accomplice, accused of having lent him the fake weapon and of having provided him with instructions during the robbery, were identified and arrested after only 48 hours of investigation, the press release specifies. While in police custody, one of the two young people “spontaneously declared to the police (…) that he intended to buy a scooter with the stolen money”, indicates the police.
