The Italian Carlo Ancelotti should soon be tried in Spain for a tax fraud dating back to 2014. The latter has not declared his image rights collected with the Spanish club Real Madrid. Image rights in the amount of 386,361 euros.

Real Madrid’s Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti will be tried for tax evasion after failing to declare income from image rights in 2014, a Spanish court learned on Wednesday. Carlo Ancelotti “acknowledged” the facts which led to a shortfall of 386,361 euros for the Public Treasury, according to a court document consulted by AFP.

“It is obvious that there are sufficient indications to consider that the facts under investigation could constitute an alleged offense at the expense of the Public Treasury”, explained in these documents the Madrid judge in charge of the investigation. The Italian had declared his income as Real manager in 2014, but not those coming from image rights and other sources of income, according to the tax authorities.

The court, on the other hand, dismissed a complaint from the tax services for 2015, when the coach was tax resident in the United Kingdom. Carlo Ancelotti, 64, coached Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015 before returning to the Madrid bench in 2021 for three years. At the end of his contract, in June 2024, he must be appointed coach of Brazil.
