netflix greatly expands the number of productions compatible with spatialized audio, reserved for premium subscribers of the service.
This feature, announced in July last year, now benefits 700 of the platform’s top productions. Added to this is the increase in the number of registered devices on which to download its content, from 4 to 6. However, these additions only concern the premium subscription, priced at 17.99 euros per month.
Well-paired spatial audio
The idea behind this feature is as a reminder to emulate immersive surround sound even through stereo speakers, headsets or headphones. Same observation for various devices such as televisions, computers, tablets and smartphones, without going through specialized audio equipment.
Netflix elaborates on how to get the most out of spatial audio: This feature is designed for devices receiving a stereo stream and provides a more immersive experience, especially with headphones. It is mainly optimized for laptops and tablets. The difference is also noticeable on a TV (up close) and a phone with stereo speakers (usually in a horizontal position). »
Make space in catalog and storage
Relatively limited since its introduction last summer, spatial audio is therefore gaining momentum on the streaming platform. The number of compatible content now increases to 700 and includes some of the platform’s best productions, such as Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Where The Watcher. Expected new titles such as Luther: The Fallen Sun will also benefit as soon as they are released.
If in doubt, it will be possible to easily find which content benefits from the feature by simply writing “ spatial audio in the Netflix search bar. To take advantage of it, however, it is imperative to subscribe to the Premium subscription, at the monthly rate of 17.99 euros.
Netflix premium members can also add two new registered devices today to download content from the platform. The total number of supported devices thus increases from 4 to 6. A practical feature. It’s a pity that account sharing will soon become chargeable, that said.
