Special Covid-19 work stoppage: what you need to know

Created to encourage employees not to take any risk, it is implemented without a waiting period, and does not require a visit to the doctor to obtain it. Who is affected by the special Covid-19 work stoppage?

All employees, whether in the public or private sector, are concerned if they "are not able to continue working from home".. The sick leave can be requested as soon as they notice they have symptoms similar to those of Covid-19. People identified as a contact can also benefit.

What are the steps to take to obtain the work stoppage?

Symptomatic people or cases of contact can request a work stoppage by completing a declaration on declare.ameli.fr or declare.msa.fr, depending on their situation. This step will allow them to obtain proof to provide to their employer.

Once the sick leave has been obtained, it is imperative to carry out a screening test, PCR or antigen, within 48 hours of the request. The date and place of screening must be indicated to the health insurance or to the agricultural social mutuality (MSA). In the event of a positive result, the sick leave is prolonged. The people concerned "will benefit, from the day after the date of obtaining the result of a test", a sick leave without waiting period, explains Social Security to AFP.

If the result of the test is negative, then the work stoppage is interrupted and the employee must resume his activity. If symptoms persist, a doctor's appointment must be made to obtain another sick leave.

What compensation during the stoppage?

"The French are very aware of the challenges which are attached to isolating themselves from the onset of the first symptoms. Our duty is to lift all brakes so that they respect this principle, which implies responding to relative fears. the consequences on their remuneration ", said Olivier Véran in a press release from the Ministry of Health. To encourage them to stop, the government indicates that compensation for work stoppage will represent almost the entire salary, "from the onset of symptoms and the first day of quitting, until the results of their test are obtained".

"The employee receives a daily allowance paid by the Health Insurance, up to 50% of the gross salary, and an additional allowance paid by the employer, of 90% of the gross salary, from the first day of stoppage. replacement rate reaches 99% of net salary ", explains the Ministry of Health to Franceinfo.

Follow-up for people arrested for Covid-19

When the process is initiated, people who test positive will benefit from follow-up "systematic, with two to three phone calls over seven days", explained Jean Castex during his press conference. From January 20, those who wish will be able to receive "a home visit by a nurse".
